Sensor Characterisation |
This working group was first proposed at the 7th IOCCG Meeting, held in Villefranche-sur-Mer, January 2002. The Terms of Reference and list of members have not yet been established, but should be available in the near future. Rationale
There is a concern in the remote sensing community that engineering standards and specifications for sensors are misleading from a user’s standpoint. The objectives of the group are to standardise specified sensor parameters (e.g. radiometric resolution), in the context of the increasing relevance of merging data from various sensors. It was proposed that a working group be established to address these issues and to produce a user handbook with a definition of terms for various sensor parameters. The handbook will be tentatively entitled 'Sensor Characterisation'.
