Practical Sessions - NOOS

The afternoons at the training course also included practical sessions on SeaDAS (presented by Linda Payzant from the Bedford Institute of Oceanography, Canada), Primary Production (Nicolas Hoepffner, JRC) and three intensive sessions on NOOS.
NASDA has developed a system to analyse marine environments using ocean-colour and other satellite data, together with in situ data. The system is called NASDA Ocean Observation System, or NOOS.
The first session on NOOS was an introductory exercise, this was followed by NOOS sessions on coastal areas and fisheries. Here Dr. Tanaka observes as NOOS-sessions coordinator Dr. Akira Mukaida (Remote Sensing Technology Center of Japan (RESTEC)) assists a group of students in manipulating an image.
